Earth Hour 2009

Published by mkissing at 8:34 am under In the News Edit This

Coming up on the 28th of March a historical event will take place.  Will you be a part of it?

For those of you that haven’t already heard about Earth Hour , it is a global action to turn our lights off (whether at home or at the office) for one full hour.  Between 8:30PM and 9:30PM, millions of people across the world will partake in this awesome event.  Watch the You Tube video below for more exciting statistics.

Started in 2007 by Sydney Australia, over 2 million people turned off their lights during the first Earth Hour.  By 2008, over 50 million people participated in the event around the world.  This year, the goal is to have 1 billion people make a commitment to our earth to help stop global warming by our constant energy consumption.

This is a great opportunity for all of us to unite together to make a difference!  Being a part of something so much bigger than us has a truly rewarding quality to it.  To be connected to our fellow Earth-dwellers thousands of miles away could give us the sense of community that we can’t often feel with people across the world.  I for one am looking forward to lighting some candles and having the opportunity for uninterrupted conversation with my husband, well, as uninterrupted as our two-year old will allow.  Will you be a part of this?  What will you do during that hour?
